Mariachi Real de Alvarez was founded in 2012 by brothers Julio A. Alvarez and Julio J. Alvarez, whose musical journey began at the age of five. Raised in the rich traditions of Mexican folklore and mariachi music, the Alvarez brothers developed a deep respect and mastery for the art form from an early age.
Established in Fort Worth, Texas, Mariachi Real de Alvarez has become a cultural cornerstone of the city’s music and arts scene. The group is the preferred mariachi ensemble for Sundance Square, performing regularly at major city events including arts festivals, rodeo parades, Día de los Muertos celebrations, and other signature community gatherings. They are also the trusted mariachi group for the iconic Fort Worth restaurant Joe T. Garcia’s.
With an extensive musical background and unwavering commitment to excellence, Mariachi Real de Alvarez has earned international recognition. Their work includes collaborations with Disney Parks as part of the “It’s a Small World” 50th Anniversary Global Chorus, appearances with Netflix in Queen of the South featuring Yancey Arias, and performances alongside country artist Wade Bowen. They have also performed for Indianapolis 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay, with coverage noted in The Washington Times, and for distinguished guests including Mark Wahlberg, U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, and current Mayor Mattie Parker.
Mariachi Real de Alvarez has been featured by respected media outlets including The Fort Worth Report and New York Weekly. In 2024, the group was nominated for the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards in the Latin Music Artist category—an honor recognizing their cultural impact and artistic excellence.
